According to the 2022 ESG Sustainability Report of Unimicron, the company actively implements #localization of materials, supports the development of local suppliers, and is committed to reducing unnecessary air and sea freight costs, thereby lowering the #carbonfootprint generated during the material transportation process.

As per the report, Unimicron currently sources 99% of the laminates used in the production of ABF substrates from Japan (singlesource).

The report highlights the company's efforts to address high-risk factors that may cause ongoing operational disruptions, such as reliance on a single supplier, regional policy changes, and insufficient production capacity. Unimicron has introduced alternative suppliers or implemented second supplier or second production site certification plans based on supplier attributes to gradually reduce the risks faced by the supply chain.

WaferChem has broken the Japanese supply monopoly with its proprietary technology. By using locally sourced critical materials, such as laminates, in the production of #ABFsubstrates, WaferChem has not only reduced dependence on imported critical materials but has also brought new hopes for carbon reduction to the Taiwanese ABF substrate industry.

This initiative not only contributes to lowering carbon emissions but also provides new impetus for the sustainable development of the Taiwanese ABF substrate industry.

Apple Inc. states that this is part of its global #carbonneutrality goal and anticipates working collaboratively with partners like Unimicron to collectively achieve a more environmentally friendly and sustainable supply chain. This is a proactive response to climate change and environmental sustainability, encouraging industries to join forces in the green transition, collectively building a brighter future.
