Taiwan is globally renowned for its semiconductor manufacturing, characterized by cutting-edge technology, high efficiency, and superior yields. However, over 90% of critical materials are imported, posing a high risk due to reliance on a single source. The inability to access these critical materials could result in a severe national security issue for Taiwan.

To enhance Taiwan's supply chain resilience, the following four points are recommended for consideration:

1) Technical Independence and Control: Strengthen the independent research and development capabilities of semiconductor manufacturing processes, reducing reliance on foreign technologies to ensure domestic technological leadership.

2) Reduced Import Dependency: Actively decrease reliance on imported critical materials, develop domestic alternatives, and mitigate supply instability risks associated with dependence on a single source.

3) Localized Supply Capability: Establish a robust local supply chain, support the development of local suppliers, and decrease supply risks arising from international fluctuations.

4) Government Policy Support: Formulate corresponding policies, provide financial support, foster collaborative development of upstream and downstream industries, and mandate companies to test and use domestically produced materials to enhance the overall resilience of the supply chain.

Among these four points, we believe that the fourth point, government policy support, is the most crucial. In fact, we can observe other countries' governmental support for domestically produced semiconductor materials. These initiatives include financial assistance, collaboration across industries, and requirements for companies to test and use domestically produced materials. These measures significantly impact improving the overall resilience of the national supply chain, providing substantial assistance to domestically developed materials manufacturers!
